It’s highly important to define what your values are as a business owner, or an aspiring business owner. Not being aware of what your personal values are can lead to a failing fashion business. Here are three reasons why I say that.
- Firstly, your personal values are a definition of what you find important, and hence will be guidance for determining your quality of life. Running a business takes a lot of time and it would not be worthwhile to blindly chase the dreams and/or visions of another, no matter how successful they are. It’s not merely a copy and paste project, a key to a good quality of life would start with really thinking about and defining what you are all about and why. Thinking of and defining your personal values will provide clarity in terms of how you spend your time and the activities you focus on in order to create a business and a life that you love.
- Your personal values are tied to purpose – your reason why. Why you decide to do things a certain way and how this is linked to the usefulness of the product/service you’re creating. This does not necessarily have to translate into doing a business venture that is your life purpose. However, it means that you should have clear reasons why you are offering the particular product or service to your customer base and more importantly how useful it is in their world.
- Once you know what you are all about by way of defining these personal values, it presents a way to clearly evaluate the worth of your business, the team you work with and yourself based on your strengths and what you aspire to. Armed with this knowledge you, as a business owner, can then focus on what you’re good at and collaborate both internally and externally with people and businesses that can fill in where you lack. Operating in this manner is likely to result in fulfillment and good business growth.
